Verdict
We recommend the Head Extreme Pro 2025 to advanced attackers who want to finish points overhead and have the fitness to swing a demanding racket. It is one of the most powerful rackets on the market. For such a stiff diamond-shaped racket, it is also surprisingly forgiving on off-centre hits.
You pay for that power in maneuverability. If you spend a good part of the match defending from the back glass, the Extreme Pro 2025 will make you work harder than it pays you back.
- Best for
- Advanced attackers with good technique and fitness who finish points with the vibora and the smash.
- Not for
- Defensive or intermediate players who need a racket that is easy to move.
Strengths
- Firm, very fast viboras without straining the arm
- Flat smash that doesn't swallow the ball
- Large sweet spot for a power racket
- Solid, precise block volleys at the net
- Gives you control when you accelerate from the baseline
Weaknesses
- Hard to handle in defence because of its weight and head-heavy balance
- At the net you have to prepare the shot early
- The bandeja needs a longer swing
01 Baseline: control at speed, heavy in defence
From the back of the court this is a progressive racket: the harder you swing, the more control it gives you, so you can push the pace from the baseline without losing feel for the ball. Despite its stiffness, ball exit at medium and low speeds is more than decent.
Defence is where it struggles. The diamond shape, the 270 mm head-heavy balance and a weight of 360 to 380 g put a lot of mass in the head, so getting there in time is hard when you have to react defensively. It also takes good fitness to swing it for a whole match.
02 Volley: a solid block that needs early preparation
At the net, the weight in the head works for you once the racket is in position. Block volleys come off solid and precise, and you can speed up the volley without losing control. Sliced or flat, the ball leaves the face fast.
The catch is that you have to get the racket back early. In quick exchanges, if your footwork and preparation aren’t fast, you’ll be late more often than with an even-balanced racket.
03 Overheads: let the inertia do the work
Overhead play is its strongest suit. On the vibora, the weight and inertia carry your arm through and the ball comes out firm and fast with no extra effort. The bandeja is easier to control than with the Extreme Motion, but you need a longer swing to get the most out of it.
The smash is just as good. On the x3 the ball bounces out with ease, and on the flat smash the racket doesn’t swallow the ball, responding better than the Extreme Motion. If you want to end points overhead, we think it’s the more punishing of the two.
04 Feel: stiff and dry, with a generous sweet spot
It sits in the medium-hard category, but it is a bit stiffer than a typical medium-hard racket. The UD Carbon face and Power Foam core give it a dry, firm response that gets more progressive on fast shots. It suits players who are already used to stiff rackets.
The surprise is the sweet spot. It is very well designed, better than on almost any other power racket, so slightly off-centre hits are punished less than you’d expect from such a stiff diamond-shaped racket.
05 Against the 2024: stiffer and more aggressive
The main change is stiffness. This version is noticeably stiffer and drier than the previous Extreme Pro, which means more power and better performance when the pace is high. In return, it may be slightly less easy to play from the baseline. The 3D textured finish now covers more of the face, and the new hole pattern works well. If you’re coming from the previous version, you’ll notice a more aggressive racket.
Frequently asked questions
- Is the Extreme Pro 2025 stiff or soft?
- Medium-hard, though a little stiffer than most rackets in that category and with a dry response. It feels best when the rallies get fast.
- What's different from the Extreme Pro 2024?
- Stiffness, mainly: the 2025 is much stiffer, so it hits harder when the pace is high. If you liked how easy the 2024 was from the back of the court, the new one gives up a bit there.
- Is the Extreme Pro 2025 heavy?
- It's not a light racket: 360 to 380 g with a head-heavy balance. You need to react early in defence and in fast net exchanges, but once it's in position that mass makes it feel solid.
- Extreme Pro or Extreme Motion for attacking?
- For smashers, the Pro. It holds firmer on the flat smash and its bandeja is easier to control, as long as you have the technique and fitness to handle it.
- How good is the Extreme Pro 2025 for x3 smashes?
- Very good: it's one of its best shots. With the weight in the head you don't have to force it to get the ball bouncing high and out over the fence.
